CHILDREN'S HUNGER FUND

Helping children in need

Math and Science Academy of Southern California is not just a business we look at our entire community as family. We like to help our community and children succeed in their future. We have partnered with the Children’s Hunger Fund to help children in need.

Good nutrition helps students show up at school prepared to learn. Improvements in nutrition not only make students healthier, but they are are less likely to have health-related absences and attend class more frequently.  Studies related to diet in school-aged children find that malnutrition can lead to behaviorial  problems, and sugar has a detrimental impact on a child’s behavior. However, with a balanced and nutritional diet that includes protein, fat, complex carbohydrates, and fiber, these effects can be counteracted . This leads to children spending more time in class, and fewer interruptions in their learning process over the school year.  Additionally, students’ behavior may improve and cause fewer disruptions in the classroom, creating a better learning environment for each student in the class.

The Children’s Hunger Fund (CHF) provides nourishing food for hungry kids across America and around the world. CHF distribute Food Paks and other aid through local churches so that they may deliver hope to suffering children and families in their communities. “Food Paks”—boxes filled with non-perishable food goods that can feed a small family for a week.

At the Math and Science Academy, we have partnered with CHF to help support this worthy cause. With every tutor session, we will donate 10 Food Paks to CHF. Your support will feed poor children and change lives forever.

Caring for our Community

We are here to help our community in need. For each session for which you register your child, 10 children struggling with food security will get a meal they need that supplies them with the nourishment they need to learn and succeed in school.
